Hi there!  My name is Kasia and I am the one behind the lens of KGilbert Photography.  I am a military wife and mother of two crazy, wonderful, full-of-life boys.  I am not a stranger to change.  I absolutely love to meet new faces and see new places.  I have made a promise to myself that I will never stop learning.  Here is a little look in to my world:

The Whole Truth

What do you say in an “About Me” section?  I guess the idea is for you to get a quick glimpse at who I am before we meet.  No pressure.  Photographers are sometimes known for only wanting to be BEHIND the camera, hiding themselves behind those huge lenses, and that is where they stay.  Well, to me it’s actually a little different.  I want you and I to not only work with one another but to share, become friends.  I want you to be able to get a read on who I am before you decide that you want me to document those special memories for you and your family and the future generations who will be looking through and connecting with you through your albums.  Honestly, I love to laugh.  But what I REALLY enjoy is getting OTHERS to have fun being in front of my camera and to just be themselves with me and themselves.

The Background Check

I am a proud Christian, military veteran, military wife, mother of two crazy {but awesome!} boys, daughter {military brat}, sister and friend.  I graduated from the United States Air Force Academy.  I love the United States.  I really love traveling the entire globe!  I am really really really afraid of spiders.  Don’t laugh.  It’s that bad.

Why I Do It

I love art.  I can’t say I was ever a talented painter but I enjoy painting.  I love the colors, textures and patterns.  This also makes sense that I liked quilting {okay honestly I just loved collecting all those beautiful, colorful, patterned fabrics!}.  I really love that I can see and capture all those same attributes through a camera, and without the paint mess! {Believe me, I’m a messy painter…even messier cook…another story all together.}

I am so excited to be able to photograph things as a business! I am also thrilled that technology has opened photography up to so many people!  So many people these days are seeing photography as an important part of documenting their lives and loves.  I am in love with what I get to do and see and capture through the lens.  I want the chance to photograph families playing and parents loving on their children.  I want to capture the looks that a couple in love give one another.  I want to create an image that brings to mind a fun memory of a day, a wonderful moment in their lives.  I want to catch the family dog in a full sprint herding his people and chasing the kids!  I want you, my clients, to become my friends.  Relationships are important to me not only in my personal life but in my professional life as well.

I love the look of ambient light and try to do most of my shooting that way {though sometimes good images will benefit from dramatic lighting added}.  I have pledged to myself to constantly learn more, shoot often and most likely will continue to evolve my “style”.  Will you let me capture your life?
