This week for our 52 blog circle the theme is DOF or Depth of Field. I have some examples of DOF in some of my portrait work but I wanted to do something a little different then portraits because I get to do those all the time.
If you have young boys around then you know that Lego mini figures live in a reality all their own. Well this week I decided to take a walk in their world and see how the minis live. Here is what I found!
{PS I may add some more images from this set so check back in the afternoon!}

This guy was hiding from the cops under a trash can. {ISO 640, 46mm, f/2.8, 1/60sec}

I had to find a photographer in there…she is really a full time cop (CSI) and does photography as a part time job. Here she was photographing an engagement session with a young couple. {ISO 640, 54mm, f/4.0, 1/25 This was set on the table and not hand held if you notice the shutter speed}

This one is for my Crossfit buddies out there…see? They are doing tire flips!
The guy on the right is obviously bringing it weak! LOL! {ISO 640, 54mm, f/4.0, 1/25}
That’s good for now! I may post more here later but please head on over and check out my blog circle mate Katrina Lee in Nebraska and see what beautiful image she has representing DOF!
Cheers!

Fun! I take photos of my son’s Legos too, but my pictures don’t tell stories as well as these!
We might spend too much time making up the stories instead of picking up! LOL!
That’s inspiring. I need to stretch my creativity.
I love your creativity! Great stories.
My fave is the CSI/photog. Haha!
Thanks Jenn! It is fun to get to play once and a while!
awesome shots! Love the first one.
This was my favorite too!
I love the CSI-slash-photog! Great colors and stories!
Thanks Megan! I probably could have chose a different body but you just go with what you got!
Oh goodness these are just adorable. I lov the guy with the camera. Perfect DOF.
Thanks Jessica! I had made a few renditions of a camera but then my son showed me that he already had a camera in one of his sets! Who knew! But it was fun building the cameras still!
Cute idea!
Thanks Blair! There were a whole lot of stories to be told in there!
MY goodness!!!!!!! Wish I could get DOF like this!!!!!! Did you manually focus these? They are UNREAL!!!! We have MASSIVE amounts of legos at my house. My boys LOVE them
Thanks! All of these pictured in this set were auto focus but I did take some later indoors that I was having to manually focus. My AF handled it a lot better outside in natural light.
These are great! They would be really fun as large prints in his room or play room. I’m inspired & ready to go play with some legos! GREAT job!
That’s a great idea Melinda! My boys need some wall art in their room. Maybe I will start taking more interesting shots of their toys. A macro lens would be really cool for that.
Oh boy, is THIS familiar!!! I am crazy jealous about the photographer though!!! I am now, on a mission! I just love these, in fact I even tried it myself… but nothing as good as yours. I think you’ve inspired me to have my guy set up some scenes to shoot and possibly frame for his room or the playroom!!
I think the camera actually came in his City Jail/Prison (don’t remember the set name) set…I guess for mug shots? LOL. Making up stories was a lot of fun. I bet kids could come up with some great ones!
These look great. The perspective and DOF are perfect.
Thank you Nikki!
What great DOF you captured with these guys. Love the colors in these!
Oh my gosh, these are a riot! That one with the trashcan on his head! There is such a fun story in images like this!
Love your images! The photographer is just perfect!
